We are pleased to welcome Burak as a new PhD researcher joining our group to work on digital and data-driven approaches for understanding vascular aging in primary care settings. The project aims to improve early identification of subtle vascular changes that precede overt cardiovascular disease by using patient-near measurements and clinically relevant data that can be integrated into everyday healthcare practice.
The research focuses on non-invasive indicators of cardiovascular regulation and arterial health, including heart rate variability (HRV) and pulse wave velocity (PWV), which together provide complementary perspectives on vascular function and structure. By integrating existing scientific knowledge with real-world measurements collected in clinical environments and by using wearable and patient-near technologies alongside established healthcare methods, the project seeks to build a more holistic understanding of vascular health and the biological processes underlying vascular aging.
These multimodal data will be combined using AI-based approaches for pattern recognition and risk stratification, with an emphasis on early detection, prevention, and clinical applicability. The goal is to support healthcare professionals with practical tools for identifying individuals at increased risk, rather than replacing clinical decision-making.
We are excited to have Burak join the team and look forward to the new ideas and perspectives he brings. His work will contribute to our shared goal of developing practical, accessible technologies that help clinicians and patients work together toward earlier prevention and better cardiovascular health.
